In the serenity of the skies, nature whispers stories of grandeur and connection; each step is a reminder that beauty is on the way to the clouds. The Humantay Lagoon, at 4,200 meters above sea level, is a spectacular reflection of natural beauty. Its turquoise waters sparkle with intensity, surrounded by imposing snow-capped peaks that seem to guard it for millennia. The atmosphere is tranquil, inviting visitors to connect with the majesty of nature while listening to the soft whispers of the wind and the singing of birds.
Each step towards the lagoon is a journey that reveals breathtaking landscapes, making the visit to Humantay Lagoon an unforgettable destination for those seeking to explore the essence of the Andes. This day you will have to make a small sacrifice and get up early. Our transportation will pick you up around 04:30 am to 05:00 am.
The trip to the town of Mollepata, the closest town to Humantay, takes 3 hours. During the route, you will be able to enjoy the Andean landscape and its beautiful mountains, or simply complete your dream. Upon arrival to the town, we will stop to go to an exclusive tourist restaurant and enjoy a succulent buffet breakfast, made with fresh and native Peruvian ingredients.
After about an hour, we will board again our transportation to the camping area of Soraypampa (5 minutes of travel).
Once we arrive at Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike, we will take a moment to stretch and prepare for the hike. If you wish, take advantage of the restrooms available there. Then we will begin the hike to the Humantay Lagoon. The route is approximately 2.5 km and is estimated to take between 1.5 to 2 hours to climb, depending on your pace. Remember that the lagoon is 4,200 meters above sea level, so go at your own pace and take breaks if you need them.
Upon arrival, we will take enough time to enjoy the spectacular view of the turquoise lagoon and the surrounding mountains. Our guide will give us a short explanation about the thaws and give us time to capture those beautiful moments and explore the surroundings, meditate, and enjoy the environment.
Following, we will begin our descent to Soraypampa. This trek is faster, approximately 1-1.5 hours. Once in Soraypampa, we will board the transport that will take us back to Mollepata. There, in the same restaurant, we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, with a variety of dishes for all tastes.
Next, we will board our transportation back to Cusco, where we will arrive at approximately 17:00.
